Romantic Getaway - 3 Days

Day 1

Covered Bridge Driving Tour
You'll know you're in for a peaceful, romantic getaway as soon as you get lost in the serenity of our Amish countryside and our historic covered bridges. Just the sight of our covered bridges brings to mind thoughts of old charm and romance, and in Lancaster County, we have plenty of both. Sometimes referred to as "kissing bridges" because of the many couples who have strolled across them over the years, Lancaster County is home to 30 of these covered bridges, most still drivable! Self-guided driving tour maps are available online.

Wineries and Breweries
Relax the afternoon away with a wine tasting at one of Lancaster County's estate wineries, where you can sit on a porch and enjoy the view with a taste of award-winning wines. Or, enjoy a his-n-hers tasting at one of the area's unique microbreweries, where each brew has its very own personality.

Dinner and a show in downtown Lancaster
Head downtown for a fine dining meal at one of Lancaster's exquisite restaurants, where top-notch chefs create masterpieces in memorable spaces with tons of character. Take advantage of Lancaster County's fine local ingredients to enjoy the very freshest foods cooked into unparalleled culinary creations. Afterwards, enjoy a theatrical performance or symphony concert to top off the evening.

Day 2

Hot Air balloon ride with the US Hot Air Balloon Team
One Historic Drive (at Netherlands Inn and Spa), Strasburg
Come up...slow down with this once in a lifetime ballooning experience. Relax and enjoy the exhilaration of floating effortlessly over Lancaster County's picturesque Amish farmland. Wave from aloft to earth bound spectators and farmers working in their fields. Morning and afternoon rides available.

Spa treatment
Lancaster County is home to several magnificent day spas, where couples can relax together with his-n-hers massages, facials and more. Enjoy a soothing treatment as you gaze out over the serene Amish countryside, and start off refreshed for an extraordinary day hand-in-hand with the one you love.

Explore towns & villages
Spend the afternoon browsing hand-in-hand through any of Lancaster County's quaint towns and villages. Stroll the tree-lined Main Street while stopping into cozy shops in the Norman Rockwell-esque village of Lititz, or explore Strasburg with its historic architecture, tucked away antiques shops, and old-fashioned cafes.

Day 3

Amish buggy ride
Here's your chance to travel as the Amish do - in an authentic horse-drawn buggy. Several businesses operate buggy rides that let you see what daily transportation is really like for this unique community. This scenic mode of transportation is the perfect way to explore the countryside at a leisurely pace.

Antiquing
If you love nothing more than browsing through shelves of old housewares, admiring Victorian furnishings, decorating with early Colonial linens or just searching for that "special something," Pennsylvania Dutch Country is your home for antiquing of every kind. Browse huge antique malls filled with hundreds of dealers, or stop into tucked-away mom-and-pop shops in quaint country villages for one-of-a-kind finds. Stop by any of the outdoor markets or antique auctions as well, and you'll find everything from exquisite antique furniture and delicate china to milk bottles, Amish toys, historic postcards and much more.
