New Gift of Lights attraction puts sparkle in Pennsylvania Dutch holidays

Drive-thru lights attraction at Elizabeth Farms adds to Lancaster County Christmas offerings

(Lancaster, Pa.) On November 18, Lancaster County will add a bright tradition to its 2011 holiday season, with the opening of the new Gift of Lights drive-thru attraction at Elizabeth Farms in Brickerville, the area’s largest live Christmas tree farm. Elizabeth Farms is partnering with Indiana-based light park designer Winterland Inc. in this new venture.
Composed of hundreds of thousands of lights in dazzling seasonal displays and approximately one mile in length, Gift of Lights is a wonderful complement to all the other festivities at Elizabeth Farms – horse-drawn wagon rides, choose & cut Christmas trees, gift shopping and picture-taking in Santa’s Workshop, cups of hot cocoa, Bloomingdale’s classic Christmas window displays, and an enormous model train display.
Plus, admission to Gift of Lights is just $15 per vehicle, a great holiday value.
And get $2 off admission by bringing a toy for Toys for Tots – Marine Corps League of Lancaster County or clothing for Goodwill Keystone Area. Elizabeth Farms will generously multiply this holiday spirit by donating a portion of the proceeds from Gift of Lights to these two organizations as well.
“We’re very excited to have helped bring two top-quality partners like Elizabeth Farms and Winterland together, whose combined energy and creativity have produced a great new holiday offering for Lancaster County,” enthused Chris Barrett, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau in Lancaster.
Children and the young at heart will gaze in wonder as they ride through the shining light park that features numerous sparkling light displays, including glowing versions of such holiday icons as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman, as well as a brilliantly lit tunnel set aglow by thousands of dazzling lights. Visitors are sure to make yuletide memories ‘round every turn!
Moreover, Gift of Lights at Elizabeth Farms is a radiant new feature at, which celebrates our place in America’s holiday heritage by making it easy for visitors to discover and explore Lancaster’s many seasonal festivities, shows, events, and shopping venues.
And though the theme of the season is white as snow, Gift of Lights is very green – the attraction’s enviro-friendly LED lights are expected to need substantially less than $1000 of electricity in total during the 6-week run.
Gift of Lights at Elizabeth Farms will be open nightly, including Christmas, Nov. 18 thru Jan. 1, on Sundays-Thursdays 5 pm – 9 pm and Fridays-Saturdays 5 pm – 10 pm. Visit for more details, as well as for info and the hours for the rest of Elizabeth Farms’ holiday offerings from Nov. 25 thru Jan. 1.
