Holiday traditions come together in Lancaster County

Whatever your seasonal pleasure, you’ll find it in PA Dutch Country

(Lancaster, PA)  At heart, the holidays are all about traditions – both old and new – and so, too, is Lancaster County.  Like you, we value our traditions in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, at Christmas and year-round.

So if you’re starting a brand new holiday custom with your family or renewing a long lost one with old friends, come celebrate them, and a few of ours, in a setting that comes naturally – Lancaster County.

  • Visit Elizabeth Farms and ride a horse-drawn wagon out to a sweeping field of beautiful Christmas trees for you and your family to choose from and cut (as well as many other activities).

  • Sing along with gumption to the seasonal favorite Annie at the gorgeous Fulton Theatre through January 3rd.

  • Explore 15 different scenes from yuletide days past and present at the National Christmas Center.

  • Put on your hat and gloves, lace on some skates, and glide around the outdoor rink at Clipper Magazine Stadium’s Ice Park.

  • Catch the true spirit of the season with the Theater of the Seventh Sister’s unique Pay-What-You-Wish production of A Christmas Carol.
  • Get good deals and great memories with an old-fashioned Christmas shopping trip to our artisans, town and village Main Streets, outlet stores, and country markets.  And find new suggestions for shops and presents each day from now through December 25th at www.padutchcountryblog.com

  • Enjoy historic tours, open hearth cooking and live music at the Revolutionary-period Rock Ford Plantation, on December 26-27 from 4-8pm (tours by candlelight) and December 29-30 from 11am-3pm.

  • Experience an Amish Family Christmas at Freedom Chapel Dinner Theatre, or delight in the good cheer of A Dickens of A Christmas at the Mount Hope Estate & Winery.

Plus, don’t forget all the seasonal activities and events at favorites like Dutch WonderlandAmerican Music TheatreKitchen Kettle VillageStrasburg Rail RoadHersheyparkLandis Valley Museum, the Railroad Museum of PennsylvaniaSight & Sound Theatre, and the Ephrata Cloister.

Lancaster County is a wonderful blend of urban style and rural splendor, and the PA Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau is dedicated to promoting its many rich cultures, from the Amish to the arts. Travelers can take in our vibrant downtown city life – with galleries, great dining, specialty shops, and live music – or explore surrounding towns and villages to get a sampling of the heritage, food, craftsmanship, and hands-on activities for which Lancaster is famous.
